Activities

Bogotá

Bogota is a sprawling high-altitude capital, filled with colonial-era landmarks, fantastic restaurants, cafes, stores, markets, and museums. There are many tours you can book in Bogota that will give you a real taste of this amazing city and all the beauty that surrounds it. Below are a few activities we recommend to do but there are many more you can find by searching online.

Museo del Oro (The Gold Museum)

The most popular museum in Bogota and home to over 30,000 pieces of gold. There are three floors filled with artifacts collected from Colombia’s pre-Hispanic cultures, each focusing on a different theme. Learn how these people discovered, mined, and then worked the metals, making jewelry, masks, bowls, offerings, and armor. Discover the symbolism and spiritual aspects of gold’s everyday uses.

Monserrate Mountain

Incredible panoramic views of Bogota from 3152m (10,300ft) from a peak dominating Bogota are a must-do if you visit Bogota. This sacred Mountain is a pilgrim destination, with a church, cafeteria, restaurants, souvenir shops. Monserrate can be accessed by cable car, by funicular, or by climbing.

Barrio de la Candelaria

Considered the historic center of Bogota and the old site of Bogota’s first settlement. Here you’ll find cobbled streets lined with great mansions, small boutique style shopping for anything from emeralds to Pre-Colombian artifacts. This is a great place to walk around and experience the Bohemian atmosphere, do some shopping, site seeing, and taking in the art, murals and graffiti found all over this area.

Coffee Tours

Everyone knows that a cyclists biggest craving is for coffee and we all know that Colombia has some of the best coffee in the world. Take advantage while here and take a coffee tour and experience the century-old artisanal way of harvesting coffee beans. During these tours you get to pick, grind, and roast your own coffee before tasting some of the smoothest coffee ever.

Parque 93

Parque 93 is a must-visit for its vibrant atmosphere, restaurant scene, bars and cafes.

Zona Rosa

Zona Rosa holds the best restaurants, cafes and stores in the city.

Preview the race course outside Bogota

Your hotel can help you book a driver to take you to pre-ride the race course (ask the hotel to help you book a driver for race day as well). During or at the end of your ride, you can include some extra activities like visiting charming historic city centers of villages like Guasca, Guatavita or Sesquile and enjoy great local food, coffee and juices. Booking a tour guide can help give more meaning to the visit and learning about the myth of El Dorado, Lake Guatavita, the Muisca people and a deeper understanding of Colombia’s history.
