Getting to the race start from Bogota

If you are traveling to GFNY Bogota and want to stay inside the city of Bogota you will have an amazing experience as well as fantastic cycling in the nature surrounding the capital. We recommend you stay in a Bogota hotel and book a car or service from Gruppeto our official transport provider who will drive you to the race start from Bogota to Zipaquira, where the race start is. Once done they will drive you back to Bogota once you’re done with all the post race festivities.  Please check all rates on the bike travel page of our website.

For many people the best way to organize a nice race weekend will be to stay in Zipaquira and enjoy the nature, roads, and to get acclimated to the climate.  Zipaquira is considered a weekend vacation resort town filled with activities and great spas and hotels.  If you want to avoid the morning drive and then drive back to Bogota then this would be your best option.

You should plan for the trip between Bogota and Zipaquira to take 1hr each way. Even though there are thousands of athletes driving from Bogota to Zipaquira on race morning, the drive is a smooth experience. Expect a short delay in Zipaquira when arriving to the parking area. Plan at least 30 minutes to organize your things and another 30 minutes to use the restroom and enter your start corral. Your driver should pick you up 2-3 hours before race start time.

Bring spare clothes with you, both cycling clothes in case you have doubts about the weather, as well as some comfortable clothes & shoes to change into for the drive back to the hotel at the end of the race. Your driver will keep all your belongings while you’re racing. Bring water and a snack for the drive back, Sunday afternoons have a lot of visitors from Bogota to the beautiful nature outside Bogota and there can be Sunday afternoon traffic on the return to Bogota.

You should contact your hotel or a transportation company even before your arrival to Bogota to assure availability. Don’t wait to book at the last minute. If you are traveling in a group, book a small van or bus with Gruppeto so everyone is in one vehicle to enjoy the trip together as a group.
